Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Speaking At WSU's King Tribute
Basketball legend and Hall-of-Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will be the keynote speaker at Wayne State University's annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. tribute today.
The event will be held at the Max M. Fisher Music Center at 11 a.m. Proceeds from the event will go to Adopt-a-Classroom, a national organization that helps provide for classroom resources and create teacher-student partnerships.
Abdul-Jabbar is considered one of the greatest to ever play professional and college basketball. He led UCLA to three NCAA titles and won six NBA championships with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. His Skyhook Foundation combines sports and education programs in mentoring young people from underserved communities.
