Justin Verlander To Headline MLB Opening Day Ad Campaign
DETROIT – Following his monumental 2011 season, Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander has been the face of a video game and even his own cereal, "Fastball Flakes." Tonight, he will be one of the faces to headline Major League Baseball's Opening Day national ad campaign.
In the first of two national spots debuting tonight on ESPN and MLB Network, Verlander promises to "throw 107," as part of a series of bold predictions by some of the game's biggest stars.
In addition to the commercial spots, there is some great extra content with Verlander on MLBFanCave.com. Extra content includes Verlander demonstrating the grips for his different pitches, talking about the first time he hit triple digits on the radar gun, his old curveball mechanics and the "vulcan changeup."
The spots will debut this week on ESPN, MLB Network and MLB.com, and will also be featured throughout the opening weeks of the season on FOX and TBS. Additional footage from the shoots will be featured on MLBFanCave.com in the coming weeks.
