Justin Verlander Named To All-Star Team
Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander was added to the American League team for the All-Star game.
Pitchers Andrew Bailey and Jered Weaver were also added.
A couple of spots opened up because of a new rule — pitchers who start on Sunday are ineligible to play in Tuesday night's game. All-Stars CC Sabathia of the Yankees and Trevor Cahill started Sunday, leaving them out.
"I absolutely want to go — the All-Star Game is the All-Star Game, no matter how you get there," Verlander said.
