Jury In Murder Trial Could Be Seated Today
Opening arguments in the Ihab Maslamani murder trial could be heard as early as today.
Maslamani is accused of shooting Matt Landry to death last summer during a crime spree in Macomb County.
There are still 69 potential jurors from the original pool of 124, although it is expected a 14-member panel will be seated before the end of the day.
The prosecution and defense are questioning jurors based on the questionnaires they filled out for the case based on publicity of the case and ethnicity. Ihab Maslamani is Arab, Matt Landry is white.
Three potential jurors were excused, including a county worker with relatives affiliated with the criminal justice system and a paramedic firefighter who told the court his colleagues were murdered while doing their jobs during 9/11.
