Jury Deadlocks In Vigilante Homeowner Case
A Detroit homeowner is free on bond, but facing a second trial after a Wayne County Circuit Court jury couldn't come to a unanimous decision on guilt or innocence.
Tigh Croff was first charged with murder, however Judge Michael Hathaway reduced the charge to manslaughter last week before jurors started deliberations.
WWJ's Pat Sweeting reports the jury was split six to six. Half said Croff acted in self defense when he shot Herbert Silas last December. Croff first spotted Silas and another man in his house before Croff chased Silas and shot him.
Croff told police his home had been burglarized twice before the December incident.
A hearing to determine when a second trial will be scheduled is set for August 30th.
Croff is free on bond.
