Jurors Deliberate In Killing Of 2 Hamtramck Women
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Jurors have started considering the fate of two of the five men accused in the abduction, torture and killing of two Detroit-area women who were taken at gunpoint.
The case involves the February deaths of 18-year-old Abreeya Brown and 22-year-old Ashley Conaway who disappeared late last February after being abducted and placed in the trunk of a car. Both were bound and shot in the head.
Their bodies were found almost a month later in shallow graves in in a Detroit park in the 6 Mile and Telegraph Road area.
Two Wayne County Circuit Court jurors are hearing the case.
Brandon Cain, Brian Lee, Reginald Brown and Jeremy Brown are charged with first-degree murder, torture and unlawful imprisonment. Co-defendant, Miguel Rodriguez reached a deal earlier.
Cain and Lee's jury began deliberating Friday, and the Browns' jury was expected to begin later in the day.
Cain and Lee in August were convicted in an earlier shooting incident involving the Brown and Conaway. Prosecutors claimed the young women may have been targeted for telling police about the shooting prior to their abduction.
