AUBURN HILLS (CBS DETROIT) – Joe Dumars told reporters after Thursday's NBA draft that the Detroit Pistons' selections were only a small part of their overall plan.
The next part of that plan could be Josh Smith. Yahoo Sports reports that Dumars, Detroit's president of basketball operations, met with Smith at the earliest possible moment of free agency – 12:01 a.m. Monday.
Yahoo's Marc J. Spears tweeted later that morning that Smith will also meet with his current team, the Atlanta Hawks, as well as the Houston Rockets.
Should he choose the Pistons, Smith would bolster a frontcourt which already has Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe – and may soon have Rasheed Wallace as an assistant coach.
For the Hawks, Smith averaged 17.5 points per game along with 8.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
