Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato Meeting Fans
Hundreds of screaming fans waited eagerly outside the Rochester Hills WalMart to meet and get autographs from the Jonas Brothers, in concert Wednesday at DTE energy Music Theatre.
April Terbrack of Clawson among the first in line with a friend around 11:30 Tuesday night...more than 12 hours before the Jonas Brothers are scheduled to appear. "I think it's fun," she said. "I like doing these kind of crazy things. I didn't even klnow about it until last night, just y'know, come hang out, have fun. They're very talented. I'd love to meet them, so why not?"
The tour is part of The Jonas Brothers 2010 World Tour with special guest Demi Lovato, starring in the Disney Channel Original Movie "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam."
Autumn Sikorski of Utica --also waiting since the overnight hours, says she has "been in love with them" since she was 8 years old. "They mean a lot. They encourage kids to do a lot of things. Nick, who has diabetes, inspires a lot of diabetic kids....I think they are amazing, they're awesome."
Some fans speaking to WWJ said Nick was their favorite of the Jonas Brothers for that reason.
But it's wasn't just screaming teenage girls waiting in the hot sun to see their idols. There were also fathers--even a grandfather.
Mike Byrne of Warren hatched a plot of behalf of his granddaughter Fiona. "We forced her to go to bed early, then got her up at five and told her what we were doing. She's not happy that I told her in advance."
Byrne's challenge, he said, was the hot sun, but he also noted how he and his contemporaries were vastly outnumbered. "There's 2 or 3 dads, 3 young boys and the rest is girls--God help us all," he laughed.
WalMart officials expected about a thousand fans for Wednesday's meet and greet. The store handed out bottled water and canpoes were set up to protect fans from dehydration.
Wednesday's event was a prelude to the Jonas Brothers concert tonight at the DTE Energy Music Theatre.
