Job Seekers Stay Put Despite Blackout

FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - Job-seekers attending the morning session of the Mega Job Fair, Thursday, at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Farmington Hills showed just how determined they were to meet with the 45 employers looking for workers.

Juanita Reeves, with JobFairGiant.com, arrived at 5 a.m. to begin setting-up. By 7  a.m., she said at least 50 job-seekers were waiting in a humid, darkened lobby for a job fair that wouldn't begin until 9 a.m. ... and they stayed put.

"I think they were determined," Reeves told WWJ Newsradio 950's Pat Sweeting.  "They were determined! Rain ... dark. They were here on a mission," she said.

Holiday Inn management provided water to help keep folks cool. Power was restored at around Noon.
