Jim Schwartz Talks Suh And Playoffs

Detroit Lions Head Coach Jim Schwartz joined Karsch and Anderson today to talk about the return of Ndamukong Suh and how his team is feeling after the win over the Minnesota Vikings. Below are some quotes from the Schwartz interview.

Schwartz on the return of Ndamukong Suh:

"He is ready to go and we will need his help down the line."

Schwartz on Suh not committing anymore penalties like the one that got him suspended:

"Well we all need to, anytime a penalty after a whistle is selfish or dumb penalty. I would be very surprised if this popped up on his radar again."

Schwartz on what Suh was concerned about while being suspended:

"Ndamukong's main concern was the team, even in that situation he wasn't thinking of himself. That is in the past now and only thing we can do is change it."

Schwartz on what he was thinking during the Vikings last drive:

"We were just trying to figure out a way to get them stopped. We didn't have a nickel, we has a wr at db. We were light on the defensive line. We tried a lot of different things to handle the qb scrambles. 3 different times we had a chance to stop the drive. 9 second left play we get them stopped here we can win the game. At that point we were looking for one play to get the win."

Schwartz on how to get Calvin Johnson the ball:

"Other guys need to make plays, we move him around quite a bit, he played a lot from the slot, and we need to run the ball better. The biggest thing is going into any game saying this player is gonna get that many catches. The qb needs to make good decisions. Our other guys need to make plays. We've seen those guys make plays and make defenses pay."

Schwartz on his confidence in Stafford:

"Matt's obviously the guy we want with the ball in his hands. He is good under pressure. We lose sight that he has only played 20 something games. He has the demeanor of a guy playing for 7 or 8 years. Everyone gains from experience.
