Jim Leyland: Tigers' Austin Jackson In Two-Man Race For Rookie Of The Year
Tigers manager Jim Leyland said over the weekend that he thought the American League rookie of the year would boil down to a two-man race, Tigers centerfielder Austin Jackson and Texas Rangers closer Neftali Feliz.
The Tigers had Monday off and begin a two-game series at Texas tonight. Feliz and Jackson, who bats leadoff, has faced Feliz twice this season. Feliz struck out Jackson at Comerica Park this season. Jackson singled and scored off Feliz in a game in Arlington.
Entering Monday, Jackson was tied for ninth in the American League with a .305 batting average and was tied for sixth in runs with 94.
