Jim Leyland: Cabrera Cleared To Play
Miguel Cabrera is good to go. That's the word from Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland, following reports of a minor injury.
Speaking to reporters Thursday evening, Leyland said it was "a little scary" seeing his star slugger walk off the field during the All-Star game, but it turned out to be a minor thing. Leyland said it was an "oblique issue", but didn't provide much more detail about the injury.
Tuesday night, Cabrera's tweaked oblique muscle sent him out of the Midsummer Classic, sparking rumors and worry as to whether he'd be in the lineup for the big series this weekend versus the Chicago White Sox.
In the first half of the season, the first baseman hit .311 with 18 home runs and 59 RBI.
