Jill Stein Raising Money For Recount In 3 Battleground States Including Michigan
DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) - Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein wants a recount in three key battleground states; Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Raising concerns of hacking which may have effected the outcome of the tallying of votes in these key states, Stein is raising money to fund the recount request.
The three states in question traditionally lean Democratic but were won in the November 8 election by Republican nominee Donald Trump over Democrat Hillary Clinton and Green Party's Stein.
Stein's campaign is looking to raise $2.5 million by Friday at 4 p.m. (Central) in order to meet the first deadline in Wisconsin. Stein's online campaign has already tipped $1.7 million in the first few hours of announcing the drive.
Wisconsin and Pennsylvania have already been called for Trump but Michigan has not -- with The Associated Press saying Trump still holds a slight lead over Clinton by a margin of roughly 10,000 votes.
The three states carry 46 electoral votes -- enough to give Hillary Clinton the victory.
