Jeff Riger- Wings Ready To Start The Season!
The Detroit Red Wings start the regular season Friday night at the Joe against the Ottawa Senators -- and both teams seem ecstatic about it. The theme in the Wings dressing room was how important it is to get off to a good start and how weird it is that Paul MacLean is now the head coach of the other team in the building.
Of course, Maclean was a longtime assistant for Mike Babcock and seemed very happy to be back in Detroit to start the season. Besides the start of the season, Wings players seemed very excited about how great of a sports town the city has turned into.
Detroit has always been a great sports town, but when every team seems to be winning, nothing else can compare. Babcock even joked about it, saying, "I hope some of the Lions and Tigers pixie dust rubs off on us."
Watch the Babcock and Nick Lidstrom videos below to get their thoughts as they prepare for the 20011-12 regular season. Also watch for Babcock's thoughts on MacLeans mustache -- he uses a term I had never heard before, but have since adopted into my everyday language.
