Jeff Riger: Interesting Day At The Ballpark
Monday at Comerica Park had just about everything a baseball fan could ask for going on. The Yankees were in town, Curtis Granderson was making his Detroit debut wearing pinstripes and there was plenty of reaction from the Bronx Bombers about Osama Bin Laden being killed as well. Ohh and did I mention there was a game played where the Tigers saw their losing streak grow to 7 games after a 5-3 loss. After the contest, Detroit President and General Manager Dave Dombrowski announced that 2nd baseman Will Rhymes has been optioned to Toledo while Scott Sizemore was recalled. Justin Verlander also claimed he felt the best he has all season but lasted just 6 innings while throwing 127 pitches which is 3 shy of his career high.
