As the Wings hop on a plane for Tampa Bay, they are left wondering if they've already played their last game at Joe Louis Arena for the season after a 3-2 loss in game 4 on Tuesday night. Was it also Pavel Datsyuk's last game? Maybe it was the last playoff game ever at the Joe? It's all pretty depressing to think about.
Of course if you want something even more depressing, because maybe you're just in the mood to torture yourself, check out the Wings power play in their series with the Lightning. Detroit is 1 for 21 on the man advantage through 4 games with most of the time with the extra attacker not looking all that dangerous.
With the struggles come second guessing from the fan base with the biggest question being why rookie Anthony Mantha is not still on the team to be used on the power play? Detroit had their best power play success late in the regular season with Mantha playing a big role.
I asked Wings head coach Jeff Blashill that exact question. Check out the audio for his exact answer and then ask yourself if you agree or not? Also listen for the follow up question afterwards as Blashill talks about the changes that his wife would make. Because, why wouldn't you want to know that?
