Jane Bashara's Mother 'Scared', Files Complaint About Bob Bashara
ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - The family of Jane Bashara of Grosse Pointe Park, who was found murdered in January, has filed a complaint against her husband, Bob Bashara.
In the complaint, filed with Roseville Police, Jane's mother, Lorraine Englebrecht, told police Bob Bashara seemed aloof about the situation and she thought his character had changed.
Englebrecht said she talked to Bashara on the phone following last weekend's "NBC Dateline" show that featured the murder case. Englebrecht said she told Bashara to stop "dragging her daughter's name through the mud," possibly referring to statements he made in the Dateline interview suggesting that he and his wife had an open marriage or similar understanding.
Englebrecht said that he called her back twice to "plead to her about his innocence," and, while he did not threaten her, she still felt scared of him. According to the police report, Englebrecht said she feared he might be "unstable enough" to harm her.

WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with Bashara's attorney David Griem.
"Bob listened to her complaint. She was very upset. She threatened Bob ... to do exactly what she did here," Griem said. "So, there were two phone calls from the mother in law to Bob. Bob, a few minutes later, called her back to try to calm her down but was unsuccessful."
The body of Jane Bashara, a 56-year-old mother of two, was found in the back of her Mercedes-Benz SUV in a Detroit alley on Jan. 25.
Bob Bashara, who reported her missing the night before, has been named as a person of interest in his wife's death. Another man -- Joseph Gentz -- has already been charged in connection with her murder. Gentz reportedly told police Bob Bashara paid him to kill her.
