Jalen Rose Starts 20-day Jail Sentence
PONTIAC (WWJ/AP) - Former University of Michigan Fab Five Star and NBA player Jalen Rose has reported to the Oakland County jail to begin a 20-day sentence for drunken driving.
Online records show Rose entered the jail Tuesday.
Rose will serve 20 days for a March drunk driving crash in Bloomfield Hills. Judge Kimberly Small — who has a reputation for coming down hard on even first time drunk drivers — sentenced Rose to Jail, despite pleas for leniency from a number of prominent community leaders, including Detroit Mayor Dave Bing.
Rose played for six teams during his 13-year NBA career following his years as a member of Michigan's Fab Five. He now works as an ESPN analyst and will open a school in the city this fall, called the Jalen Rose Academy.
