Jalen Rose: Burke, Hardaway Were The Catalyst For Michigan's Season
ATLANTA (97.1 The Ticket) With a comical Wolverines hat perched on his head, Fab Five member Jalen Rose delivered a message at odds with his jaunty headgear after the Michigan NCAA championship game loss to Louisville Monday.
A somber Rose advised Michigan's young team to "keep grinding, keep working," and praised them for "playing through adversity all season."
"Trey (Burke) really grew up right in front of us and became the national player of the year," Rose said, going on to praise Tim Hardaway's toughness and leadership. 'Those two situations were the catalyst."
Asked about the legacy this team leaves behind, Rose -- who knows a thing or two about leaving a legacy -- said, "You create your own legacy, you create your own moments, you create your own situations that you look back on," and went on to praise individual players for their contributions, including McGary and Albrecht.
On whether he would try to talk any players into sticking around for Michigan's next season, Rose said, "That's always a tough call ... It's like family, you support the decision either way."
On the team's prospects for next year, he added "There's a lot to build on."
