It's Back....Winter Storm Has Metro Detroiters Stocking Up
DETROIT (WWJ) - A winter storm warning is in effect from 4 p.m. Sunday through 7 a.m. Monday. WWJ's Beth Fisher reports people have been shopping at a Farmington Hills grocery to get ready.
Larry Council of Farmington Hills bought bread, milk, and meat to avoid driving if it's too icy. "I'm retired, I usually work out every morning five days a week...but I won't be going if it's icy out there," Council adding, "I need to hit the lotto so I can go to Florida right now."
Many people are getting ready for the winter storm hitting the Detroit Metro area Sunday. Some people are getting some staples like milk and bread at stores such as Kroger on Middlebelt in Farmington Hills.
Sue Boxman of Farmington Hills had a case of bottled water but wasn't preparing for the storm.
"I'm here because I just need to pick up a few things, if I am icy in or whatever for a day or so it's not going to make a whole lot of difference to me," says Boxman.
Boxman used to work at Farmer Jack for years and saw people panic whenever a storm was coming. But she says most people have enough food to survive for a few days.
According to the National Weather Service, moderate accumulations of snow will cover roadways, and slick roads and sidewalks from mixed precipitation will make travel both in vehicles and on foot extremely dangerous, which may have big impacts on the Monday morning commute. (More on this here).
