Lesson On Golf: It's All Bout Tiger

Having just returned from Las Vegas and a peak at the Masters odds, it is simply amazing. Despite the fact that Tiger Woods had not won a major since 2008 and has not won at Augusta since 2005, he was still the favorite to win at 3-1.
This is not to say that he could not win. But he is just one of about 20 guys who could pull it off, as opposed to "the guy" for the bulk of his career.
At this point I am convinced that even if he did not win for the rest of his career anywhere, he would still be among the favorites. The public will always be in love with the guy. There has never been a bigger lightening rod in the history of sports!
Yes, he did look good winning at Bay Hill...But he has not putted all that well in three years, and Augusta National is always the most severe test of the flat stick.
The guy used to be the best putter in the world. Now he is among the worst on the PGA Tour. The numbers do not lie.
Funny thing is, until yesterday's first round at The Masters of level par 72; he has been driving the ball beautifully. Driving, even when he was winning all the time, used to be his Achilles heel.
Look for Mcllroy on Sunday to be in the hunt. Tiger is always there at Augusta due to his familiarity and past success there, but has not made a clutch shot down the stretch there since 2005.
Mcllroy is by far the most talented golfer on the planet. It is only a matter of time before that shows on the tour regularly.
