It's A Nice Day For A ... Zombie Wedding!
DETROIT (WWJ) - There are church weddings, destination weddings, but how about a Zombie wedding? They're gaining in popularity, it's a wedding where the bride and groom dress up like the living dead.
That's exactly what 38-year-old Jane Robbins, of Taylor, did for her wedding to DeLan last year.
"Since it was our second wedding, we had both done the big white wedding ... with the big dresses and tuxedos. We figured it didn't work for us the first time, let's try the extreme opposite for the second," Robbins told WWJ Newsradio's Beth Fisher.
Most guests said it was the best wedding they'd attended, said Robbins, but not everyone agreed.
"My father was creeped out when he saw my make-up," she said.
Zombie themed weddings are getting to be more of the rage for those taking a walk down the aisle for the second time, especially around Halloween.
Todd Lambert, of Carlton, and his future wife dressed like zombies for their wedding recently.
"We had both been married before & we thought let's just do something that's really fun for everybody and the idea of this Halloween-type wedding came up and it just kind of steam-rolled from there," said Lambert.
Lambert said guests ranged from Frankenstein to Sherlock Holmes (the minister).
Darksyde Acres Haunted House owner Rob Johnson says they do zombie weddings.
"If they have us do it, they're gonna be full blood, guts, gore ...more zombies," said Johnson.
"There's hundreds of zombie walks, hundreds of zombie marathons, zombie weddings ... you name it ... it's zombie, zombie, zombie," he said.
Johnson expects the zombie wedding trend to keep growing because a lot of people want to get married around Halloween.
