Iserv Backs Up Corporate Parent During Sandy
GRAND RAPIDS -- The purchase earlier this year of Grand Rapids-based Iserv by Quincy, Mass.-based 382 Communications has already paid dividends.
The Massachusetts company announced Friday that its Iserv data center in Grand Rapids served as its data headquarters when its East Coast operations were affected by Hurricane Sandy, which slammed the North Atlantic coast Oct. 29.
"When Hurricane Sandy hit, 382 Communications was able to seamlessly switch over to the data center in Grand Rapids," said Iserv CEO Dan Koch. "With most operations on the east coast being shut down and all other options unavailable, this was a huge advantage for us, and one that proved to be vital for our customers."
382 Communications announced the acquisition of Iserv, one of the largest independent Internet service providers in the Midwest, last July. Iserv has been able to use 382 Communications' network to add value to its customers, and the Iserv data center, one of the region's few SSAE16 Type 1 certified centers in the region, has served as an important expansion hub and national customer support center for 382.
