Is That Visible Tattoo Holding Back Your Employment Possibilities?
DETROIT (WWJ) - Looking for a job? You might want to reconsider that tattoo you've been thinking about.
A new report says people with visible tattoos are finding it hard to find employment.
Certified Laser Specialist John Motyka, of Elite Ink, says even though tattooing is at an all-time high in terms of popularity ... some employers may discriminate against people with them.
"If somebody does their homework, they can decide where to put it ... there's nothing wrong with a beautiful tattoo done in a tasteful manner," said Motyka.
He says getting a tattoo is definitely not a decision that should be made lightly.
"Because this lessens the likelihood of buyers remorse; also it allows someone to really decide if they want a permanent tattoo because removal is painful and it's not an easy process,"said Motyka.
Motyka says most of the tattoos he removes are those with people's names. His advice: if you really want to tattoo someone's name on your body, make it a blood relative.
