Is Chael Sonnen The Future Of UFC?
By: Khang Huynh
Earlier this week UFC president Dana White announced that middle weight champion Anderson Silva will fight Chael Sonnen in a rematch headlining UFC 147 in Brazil this summer. In their first fight Sonnen looked as if he were less than two minutes away from capturing the belt with a unanimous decision but somehow Silva was able to submit Sonnen and defend his belt once again. All the talk after the fight was how Sonnen "dominated" Silva and that he should've won and there must be an immediate rematch. And now that a rematch has been announced people can't wait to see if Sonnen can finally end Silva's reign in the division. But what boggles my mind is the fact that everyone always forgets how Sonnen tested positive for steroids after his near "victory". He was then suspended by the California State Athletic Commission. That's right people he was cheating! Does anyone ever think the reason he was able to come so close to defeating Silva was because he was using steroids? How quickly everyone easily dismisses when talking about the first fight and now the rematch. In UFC 147 I look for Silva to expose Sonnen for the fraud that everyone seems to forget he is.
