iOS 8 Delivers More Features, Headaches To Apple Users
By Edward Cardenas
SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Apple has released a new operating system for the iPhone and iPad, and while it provides a number of updates, there were also a number of headaches for users.
Tech experts who had early access to the new operating system shared their reviews.
CNET offered a review of the iOS 8 operation system includes:
- Camera refinements including a time lapse video, brightness and color correction for photos, and a search function for shots taken on a certain date or location,
- Audio clips, location and multimedia can now be attached to text messages,
- Apple Pay available on iPhone 6,
- Keyboard enhancements that will predict text and remembers how you talk to individuals,
- A health app which tracks athletic activity, connects with health wearable and monitors intake of calories, minerals and other items.
While there are upgrades and enhancements, the new operating system takes up space and has given some users fits. According to Mashable, the OS file is 1.2 GB but the download needs up to 5.7 GB.
This large of file requires a varied amount of time to download the update depending on the device, and forced users to delete items off their phone to complete the download.
To save items on the phone, Mashable recommends users sync their iPhone or iPad to the computer and download iOS 8 directly from the computer. This way, the update won't use space on the iPhone or iPad and the operating system can be manually transferred.
If users want to update directly to the device, Mashable recommends to select "check for update" on iTunes and not "restore iPhone" - which will cause all content from the iPhone or iPad.
Additionally, users should backing up their data on iCloud.
