International Politics Hits Home For Local Adoptive Families
DETROIT (WWJ) - It's a cold war of a different sort with Russian President Vladimir Putin signing a ban on Americans adopting Russian children starting January 1st.
For families investing up to two years into the adoption process the new law can be devastating according to Kris Faase of adoption agency Bethany Christian Services.
"For those families -- it's a loss that you can't even put words on," said Fasse. "Obviously, it's an incredible sense of anxiety and fear right now."
Bethany Christian facilitates 20 to 25 Russian adoptions per year.
