Inmate Charged With Carjacking In Escape Attempt
An inmate at a prison in Michigan's Upper Peninsula has been charged with carjacking and assault with intent to rob while armed following an escape attempt.
Chippewa County Prosecutor Brian Peppler says Tuesday in a release that 25-year-old Andrew Ross faces life in prison if convicted of those charges and four other felonies.
Ross and two other inmates are accused of crashing through fences at the Kinross Correctional Facility on July 15 after carjacking a semitrailer trailer.
The inmates then ran from the minimum and medium security prison near Sault Ste. Marie, about 275 miles north of Detroit. Seth Privacky was shot and killed by a corrections officer as he ran. Brian Lee Davidson already was serving life in prison and will not be charged in the escape attempt.
