Inkster Man Busted With Hundreds Of Vials Of 'Cloud 9' Synthetic Drug
MT. CLEMENS (WWJ) - An Inkster man is behind bars after he was busted for allegedly selling hundreds of vials of liquid synthetic drugs.
Following a Macomb County Sheriff's Enforcement Team investigation that began last month, 41-year-old Bassam Honeini was pulled over by deputies who discovered at least 60 colorful vials in his vehicle.
According to Sheriff's officials, the vials — labeled Shisha-Premium E-Liquid, Westcoast Hookah E-Liquid, Crown E-Liquid and Relax E-Liquid — contained the compound AB-Pinaca.
The drug, officials say, sometimes referred to a "Cloud 9" is commonly consumed through e-cigarettes or with hookah pipes.
Authorities say Honeini had been operating out of a small warehouse in Dearborn, supplying the drugs to retail establishments in Macomb County. Deputies searched his home and a warehouse, where they discovered 1,200 additional vials, with an estimated total street value of $50,000.
According to Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith, Cloud 9 is a synthetic drug with deadly consequences, much like the once popular K-2 or Spice.
"For every underground chemist that creates a new designer drug, law enforcement will be there to intercept it," Smith said in a statement.
Honeini was charged with controlled substance – delivery/manufacture, a seven-year felony.
He's been held on a $5,000 personal bond and is due back in court for a hearing on Nov. 13.
