Injury Report: Ravens Very Healthy For Wild Card Game With Steelers
By Danny Cox
The Baltimore Ravens are fully prepared for their Wild Card playoff game with the Pittsburgh Steelers. They know them well. They've already faced them twice this year. One game was a big-time win by a score of 26-6. The second game ended in a big-time Ravens' loss by a score of 43-23.
Now, they will meet again on the field and the Ravens are going to be missing a handful of players this week, but they've got a healthy enough roster to compensate.
Perhaps the biggest absence this week will be that of starting left tackle Eugene Monroe. Due to an ankle injury, Monroe missed the entire week of practice and will sit out against the Steelers. Back-up tackle James Hurst is expected to start in his place.
One other offensive player is listed on the injury report and that's starting tight end Owen Daniels. The reason he's listed on the report is said to be non-injury related so he'll be out there and ready to start.
On the defensive side of things, there are a few more concerns.
Two back-ups are listed as out for the Steelers' game. The first is linebacker Arthur Brown who is dealing with a thigh injury and sat out all week. He is listed on the depth chart behind starter C.J. Mosley, but the Ravens also have Albert McClellan and Zachary Orr to step in as needed at inside linebacker.
Defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan will not be playing against the Steelers either as a foot and ankle injury held him out of practice for three days. Expect Casey Walker to step up and start, but the nod could go to Terrence Cody or Lawrence Guy as well.
The final name on the list is that of defensive tackle Chris Canty with injuries to his ankle and thigh. Canty was able to practice fully for all three days this past week, so the Ravens aren't concerned really and he'll be ready to start against the Steelers.
After that second game and big loss to the Steelers this season, the Ravens know this won't be an easy game. Things are a little better since the roster is rather healthy, but it's going to take everything that everyone has in order to defeat the Steelers for a second time this year.
