Injuries Not Life Threatening For 4 In Flint Plane Crash
FLINT (WWJ) - A small plane has crash landed at Flint's Bishop International Airport, leaving four people with non-life threatening injuries. It happened around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Airport spokeswoman Pat Corfman said the aircraft was a twin-engine Piaggio P-180, which seats nine people.
"Flying from Saint Petersburg, Florida, to some town in Wisconsin, we're not sure of the town, lost an engine somewhere along the way," Corfman told WWJ Newsradio 950. "As a result, they needed to make an emergency landing and they chose Flint."
"The pilot came in hot, which means he came in fast. When he landed the aircraft it flipped over and went off the runway," she said.
Corfman said emergency crews were waiting to spray the plane with special firefighting foam when it landed.
Corfman said all four who were on board were able to walk away, but were taken to the hospital. Two people were reported not to be speaking when rescue crews arrived, possibly in shock.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane belongs to Avantair, which offers private travel through fractional ownership of aircraft.
