Injured Vets Ride-2-Recovery To Be Filmed For Documentary
DETROIT (CBSDETROIT) - A group of injured veterans are cycling from Chicago to Detroit this week. It's part of the Ride-2-Recovery Great Lakes Challenge. Twenty-five-year-old retired Marine Corporal Matt Smith is taking part, and although he wasn't injured in Afghanistan, he says many in his battalion were killed or wounded.
"It's a difficult thing, coming home and transitioning from that , but, you know, it's great to see operations like this . It really helps sitting together with a bunch of our other veterans who've seen the same things and kinda helps everybody heal us together. It's a lot easier that way."
Smith and another vet are making a documentary on the Ride-2-Recovery ... which stops in East Lansing Tuesday, Novi on Wednesday, and winds up in Detroit on Thursday.
He says it's a fundraiser to help those injured with rehabilitation.
