Indians 3, Tigers 2 (14)

CLEVELAND (WWJ/AP) - Detroit reliever David Pauley hit Kosuke Fukudome with the bases loaded in the 14th inning to score Asdrubal Cabrera as the Cleveland Indians tightened the AL Central with a 3-2 win Tuesday night to close within three games of the first-place Tigers.

The Tigers went 14 innings and endured a rain delay before losing to the Cleveland Indians. With the score tied at 2-2 both teams waited just over two hours to take the field to complete the game, part of an important AL series for both teams.

In the 14th, Pauley (5-5) walked Cabrera with one out before Travis Hafner ripped a single past second baseman Carlos Guillen, sending Cabrera to third. The Tigers intentionally walked Carlos Santana to load the bases and face Fukudome, who was acquired last month from the Chicago Cubs for the playoff chase.

Fukudome was then drilled in the arm on a 1-2 pitch by Pauley, giving the Indians their 13th walk-off win at home this season.

Frank Herrmann (3-0), Cleveland's eighth pitcher, pitched two hitless innings for the win.
