Incubator Client Companies Win Grants To Advance Business Goals
STERLING HEIGHTS -- With application assistance from the Macomb-Oakland University INCubator, client companies Dynamic Intelligent Solutions and LogiCoul Solutions LLC, have been awarded $34,000 and $9,872, respectively, from the Business Accelerator Fund of the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center.
Based in Clinton Township, DIS provides dynamic testing and measurement systems, enabling companies to develop better products more affordably. DIS is the only known entity capable of dynamic testing in an environmentally controlled chamber. They provide real-time analysis of dimensional performance of products during duty cycles in extreme conditions; their product performance information is delivered in math data, digital picture and video formats combined; and they are one of only two resellers of Aicon products in the Americas.
The company's clients benefit from a better understanding of product performance under adverse environmental conditions; reduced development time, testing and associated costs; and an early warning for potential product failures, which helps avoid costly recalls.
The grant will allow DIS to complete Phase 1 of their initiative, which has three remaining milestones, including market and sales analysis, patent development and plan and valuation development toward growth funding.
With locations in Bloomfield Township and Fall River, Mass., LogiCoul Solutions has developed a patent-pending method, called 'Interfacial Process Stimulation,' that significantly lowers internal resistance and increases a battery's runtime by 15 to 30 percent. Potential applications include more usage for smartphones before losing power and extended range for electric vehicles.
This funding will allow LogiCoul Solutions to perform third-party testing of their process on Absorbed Glass Mat lead acid batteries, which will allow access to the new market for start-stop mild hybrid-vehicle systems.
"The Macomb-OU INCubator has provided us with excellent advice and support. The test results from this funding will allow us to deepen customer traction in a fast growing market," said David Stout, business development executive vice president for LogiCoul Solutions.
