Imris, Stryker Combine To Offer Auto-Registration, Surgical Navigation In CT, MRI
KALAMAZOO (WWJ) -- Minneapolis-based Imris Inc. and Kalamazoo's Stryker Corp. announced a non-exclusive collaboration between Stryker's automatic image registration for spinal and cranial navigated procedures and Imris' Visius CT and MRI surgical suites.
The Imris systems bring the scanner into the operating room rather than requiring the surgeon to bring the patient to the scanner.
Imris' Visius Surgical Theatre is a multi-room suite incorporating diagnostic quality high-field MR, CT and angio technology in the operating room setting. Visius Surgical Theatres serve the neurosurgical, spinal, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular markets and have been selected by 54 leading medical institutions around the world.
This collaboration is focused on improving surgical precision, streamlining workflows and increasing visualization. The combined solution will support the growing trend toward minimally invasive spinal and cranial approaches that spare healthy tissue, reduce pain, and speed recovery for patients.
