Photos Show Person In Skeleton Mask Using Missing Woman's ATM Card
DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are on the lookout for a person who they say used the bank card and vehicle belonging to a woman who was reported missing Friday and whose body may have been found Monday.
Earlier Monday, police said there was evidence of foul play in the disappearance of 24-year-old Kajavia Globe.
Globe's car was found abandoned on Chatham Street, near Telegraph Road and Fenkel, early Monday morning — three days after she went missing.
About two miles from that location, police say surveillance video shows a masked person using Globe's bank card to withdraw cash at an ATM at 7 Mile Road and Telegraph late Friday afternoon.
A body was found early Monday evening on Fielding Street, in the area of 7 Mile Road and Evergreen, that police believe belongs to Globe. Assistant police chief Steve Dolunt told reporters that though authorities believe the body belongs to Globe, confirmation by the medical examiner is required.
"We've got the body of a black female, appears to be in her 20s, in the backyard of this location," Dolunt said. "At this time, it appears to be our missing [person], we can't confirm it until the medical examiner gets here. At this time, we cannot confirm the cause of death."
Police said evidence was found in Globe's vehicle that a crime was committed, but they would not elaborate on that.
"I don't understand why people think they can just take what somebody else worked hard for," said Globe's sister, Alondria Burns. "And, after you took that money out her bank account, you could've let her go!"
Anyone who has information about this case is asked to call Detroit police.
