I-96 Bridge Project Resumes Saturday In Oakland County
LYON TWP. (WWJ) - Motorists who travel I-96 in Oakland County will encounter a change starting Saturday, when crews will put in traffic shifts to resume work on a $15.5 million bridge repair project that began last summer.
The Michigan Department of Transportation said the upcoming traffic shift will be in place between Milford and South Hill roads for work on the bridges that carry I-96 over Milford Road and Huron Valley Trail (South Lyon Rail Trail).
Beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, crews will have each direction of I-96 down to a single lane between Milford and South Hill roads in order to implement the traffic shift. In addition, crews will close the southbound Milford Road loop ramp to eastbound I-96.
At 5 p.m. Saturday, three lanes will open on eastbound and westbound I-96, with traffic shifted to the right. The loop ramp will remain closed with a detour posted.
The southbound Milford Road ramp to eastbound I-96 will be closed until May; the westbound I-96 exit ramp to southbound Milford Road will be closed until October.
In late March or early April, crews will put in a traffic shift at Kent Lake Road to begin work on that bridge.
All work is scheduled to wrap up in November.
