I-94 Temporarily Closed In West Michigan Due To Semi Spinouts, Multiple Crashes
PAW PAW (WWJ) - A portion of I-94 in Van Buren County was shut down Friday afternoon due to multiple accidents on the slick freeway.
According to Michigan State Police, about 14 cars and semi trucks were involved in spinouts, forcing troopers to close eastbound I-94 near County Road in Lawrence Township — that's exit 52, just west of Paw Paw.
Reports say one driver had to be extricated and taken to the hospital and multiple other people were injured. There are also reports of an oil spill from one of the semi trucks involved that was being cleaned by a crew with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
Those who were traveling in that direction were being forced off of I-94 at Red Arrow Highway.
In Southeast Michigan, WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Bowers said drivers should be prepared for hazerdous driving conditions and poor visibility at times as snow continues to fall throughout the day. [More here].
