I-75 Closed At Sibley Road Due To Overturned Semi
BROWNSTOWN TWP. (WWJ) - Police have shut down a popular section of I-75 Downriver due to an accident involving an overturned semi-truck.
The accident happened just before 8 a.m. Thursday on northbound I-75 near Sibley Road in Brownstown Township. The accident is causing a multi-mile backup, with traffic stopped near Van Horn Road in Woodhaven.
Reporting from above the scene in Chopper 950, WWJ's Bill Szumanski said the semi-truck is on its side, blocking the two right lanes, with its cab sticking straight up into the air.
It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was injured.
Officials are urging motorists to avoid this area, as cleanup efforts could keep the freeway closed for several hours.
