I-275 Ramp To I-96 Closed For Hours After Semi Crash
FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - The northbound I-275 ramp to westbound I-96 was closed for hours Wednesday after an accident left diesel fuel spilling onto the freeway.
Reporting live from the scene, WWJ's Ron Dewey said two semi-trucks collided on the ramp around 4 a.m.
Michigan State Police said one of the trucks was leaking diesel fuel that cleanup crews will have to take care of before they can reopen the ramp to traffic. A HAZMAT crew was on the scene Wednesday morning.
The ramp reopened at around 1 p.m.
The morning's dusting of snow and temperatures hovering around the freezing mark has meant a series of crashes, road closures, and delays. I-75 northbound was closed between Summit Street and Erie Road near the Ohio border, but has since reopened. Another accident closed I-75 southbound cat Alexis Road, just across the Ohio border.
