Husband Convicted In Murder-For-Hire Plot Of Wife Of 27 Years
MACOMB (WWJ/AP) - A 69-year-old man accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife of 27 years has pleaded no-contest to a murder solicitation charge and received a prison sentence of four years, three months to 20 years.
In May, Charles Tringali of Roseville withdrew a plea deal in Macomb County Circuit Court. He requested the deal be reinstated, and Judge Peter Maceroni complied.
Police say they got a tip that Tringali wanted his wife killed. According to police, Tringali met an undercover officer and discussed a location for the killing, along with the method. Tringali was then arrested after allegedly making a down payment of $100 and promising to pay half of a life insurance policy.
Defense lawyer Stevens Freers has said his client never planned to go ahead with the killing.
Tringali's wife, who lives in a nursing home, was unhurt.
