Husband Arrested In Fatal Road Rage Crash
ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - A Roseville woman is dead and her husband is in police custody after a suspected case of domestic violence and road rage.
Police were called to a home near I-696 and Hayes Monday night to investigate a car accident. When they arrived, they found a 55-year old woman unresponsive behind the wheel of her wrecked car.
Deputy Police Chief James Berlin told WWJ Newsradio 950 that, according to witnesses, the two were in an argument that led the couple chasing each other in their cars down a neighborhood street.
Berlin said that's when the husband cut her vehicle off and she crashed into a utility pole wire.
The woman died at an area hospital.
The man has been arrested as police investigate.
"We are awaiting autopsy results before we present this matter to the prosecutor's office to see what charges, if any, he may face as a result of this incident," Berlin said. "Right now it's unknown what her actual cause of death was so to charge him with murder it would have to be in direct result of his actions."
Berlin said the incident could have taken even more of a tragic turn with a number of people outside on a warm evening. Luckily, no one else was hurt.
No names have been released.
