Detroit Metro Airport spokesman Mike Conway said there are flight cancellations to LaGuardia, Newark, Norfolk and Washington airports. If you have a flight scheduled for the east coast this weekend, Conway said calling that 1-800-number probably won't do you much good.
"When you have a big, unusual weather condition like this, everybody is calling the 800-number, and it's very difficult to get through. It's so much faster to get information by going to the airline's website and just look for your flight status on the home page and just type your flight number in, it will tell you what the status of your flight is."
Since people have known about this storm for a while, Conway doesn't expect a lot of people to be stranded at the airport, at least not locally.
