Hundreds Greet Gymnast Jordyn Wieber In Michigan
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Hundreds of people turned out to welcome Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Jordyn Wieber back to Michigan following the games in London.
The crowd Thursday night at Capital Region International Airport included fans, family and friends. They chanted her name as she walked through the terminal.
Wieber is from the Lansing-area community of DeWitt. She says she's happy to be home and thanked those who turned out for their support.
WILX-TV reports she'll be grand marshal of Saturday's DeWitt Ox Roast parade. And she's planning to take part in a nationwide gymnastics tour. The Lansing State Journal reports the "Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastics Champions" is expected to stop in Michigan at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Nov. 3.
