Huge Stash Of Heroin Seized Along With Guns, Other Drugs, In Rochester Hills Raid
ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - Hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal drugs have been seized in a raid in Oakland County.
The Oakland Sheriff's Office says a month-long investigation led to the Aug. 18 bust at a home in the 1200 block of Waterford Court in Rochester Hills.
Along with 939 grams of heroin, the Sheriff's Office Narcotic Enforcement Team (NET) seized 10 grams of
marijuana, 15 grams of cocaine, two loaded handguns, drug packaging and paraphernalia and cash. The street value of the heroin is estimated between $300,000 and $400,000, officials said.
Christopher Dukes, 32, was arrested in connection with the raid and is facing multiple drug and firearms charges that could land him in jail for more than 30 years.
Sheriff Michael Bouchard said this operation was responsible for large quantities of heroin being distributed throughout Oakland County.
"With the harmful effects that heroin has had on our communities, I am proud of the diligence and investigatory work of the Narcotic Enforcement Team for taking a large amount of drugs out of the hands of Oakland County residents," said Bouchard in a statement. "We will continue to place a priority on eradicating heroin and dangerous narcotics off our streets."
Dukes is currently out on a $150,000, no 10 percent bond and is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary exam on Tuesday, Sept. 8, in 52-3 District Court.
Sheriff's officials say Dukes had no prior criminal record.
