How Would You Spend $337M Powerball Jackpot? That's A Lot Of Potato Chips
LANSING (CBS Detroit) What would you do if you had just won $337 million: plunk it down for cruises, jewelry, homes scattered across the globe?
The Michigan Lottery Commission doesn't care how the winner spends it, but they're hoping the winner comes forward because it's still unknown who won the third largest Powerball jackpot ever in U.S. history.
The winning numbers in Wednesday night's drawing -- with the ticket sold at a Sunoco on Main Street in Lapeer -- were 6, 27, 46, 51, 56 and Powerball 21.
The winner has exactly one year to claim the prize and by lottery law, when they do their name and hometown will be released to the public.
So, how could the winner spend the money in their home state?
*Well, if the winner wants a share a snack with friends, the money can buy 93,093,922 bags of Better Made potato chips.
*The prize money will buy 78,554,778 jars of Sanders Dessert Topping.
*Need some new wheels? How about 8,704 Lansing-made 2012 Cadillac CTS Coupes?
*The prize will buy 603,045 nights including full American plan (meals and art museum admission)
at Mackinac Island's Grand Hotel.
*Or, the winner can visit all of Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsula sights, tastes and sounds because he or she will be able to cross the Mackinac Bridge 84,250,000 times.
*A sports fan can buy 1,094,155 season tickets for Michigan State Spartan football.
*Maybe the winner would like to further their knowledge base: he or she and 26,034 college bound contemporaries can enroll at the University of Michigan.
No matter how they spend it, the winner, who purchased the ticket at the Sunoco, 1489 N. Main St. in Lapeer, must contact the Lottery's Public Relations Division at 517-373-1237 to set up an appointment to claim the prize.
