By Raquel Parks

Hour Detroit Magazine kicked off summer in true style with the launch of its Best of Detroit 2012 party on Friday at Motor City Casino Hotel's Sound Board. Whether it was fine dining or beautiful jewelry, guests experienced the best Detroit had to offer at the classy event.

Upon arrival, photographers snapped pictures to capture guests' excitement and fashion of the evening. Hour also implemented a circus theme to match the magazine's June issue for the party by presenting jugglers and performers to entertain.

The Best of Detroit party is definitely one event worth bringing an appetite to. Guests sampled a variety of scrumptious food from over 30 of the best restaurant winners. The list of favorite eateries in Detroit included: Dà Nẵng, Buddy's Pizza, Just Baked, Pegasus, Capies Candies, Vince & Joe's Gourmet Market, and Zoup.

The variety of delicious entrees and tempting desserts served were very impressive. From one restaurant to the next, there was something different and enticing to sample on. Complimentary cocktails and drinks were also available to sip on.

To keep the crowd moving, guests danced to music by The English Beat, Kenneth Thomas and Shawn Michaels, and The Killer Flamingos. Each act played an assortment of music that invited guests to set aside all the food to show off their best moves on the dance floor.

It's impossible to mention an event of this scale without discussing all the fashion.

The beginning of summer inspired bright colors in the evening attire. Some women implemented a color blocking to their look. However, the most popular colors of the evening were: orange, lavender, black, and white.

For dress length, most women opted for short and asymmetrical hems. The dress lengths worked perfectly to showcase all the stylish designer shoes that were worn.

Perhaps, the biggest fashion trend of the night was the peplum. The peplum was a refreshing, elegant new trend to see Detroiters wear. Each person who wore the peplum made a unique, trendy fashion statement.

Aside, from the use of summer colors and the peplum, there were also a handful of guests who kept it causal with long, colorful sundresses. They accessorized the look with fun, summer jewelry. The men, on the other hand, kept it basic yet very stylish and cool in designer suits, collared shirts, blazers, and slacks.

Ultimately, the Best of Detroit 2012 party not only gave Detroiters a reason to come out for the evening but more importantly supported local businesses and spotlighted the best of all aspects in Detroit.
