Hoping For A Fab Five Reunion
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Ahead of Monday night's Michigan game, a lot of talk off the court has centered around a possible Fab Five reunion -- featuring the starters from the 1993 team that lost the title game.
Speaking live on WWJ Newsradio 950, Jimmy King, a point guard from the 1992 and 1993 teams, said at least four of them will be together in the stands at the Georgia Dome.
"I've talked to my other fab teammates -- Jaylan [Rose], Juwan [Howard] and Ray [Jackson] will be there," said King. "I have not talked to Chris [Webber], but we have reached out to him and we hope that he will show up as well."
Webber, who lives in Atlanta, is still banned from the U-M program until next month as a part of the school's sanctions stemming from the Ed Martin scandal.
"There's only been one other time that we've been together -- in 2003, that was the last time all five of us [were] together," said King. "But the five of us together in this atmosphere hasn't happened in 20 years, in New Orleans. So it would be a great feeling."
Offering some advice to the current Wolverines, King said the best thing they can do at this point is try to relax.
"Be yourselves; enjoy this moment -- it's a once in a lifetime thing. Go about your business as usual; do not change your routine," said King. "The only difference between now and the rest of the season is that there's only two teams standing."
Hear the game beginning at 9 p.m. on 97.1 The Ticket or watch live on CBS 62.
