Honda Recalls Two New 2011 Models
DETROIT (WWJ) - Honda is recalling new models of the Civic compact car and Odyssey minivan over leaking fuel tanks and faulty windshield wiper rods, respectively. The recall covers about 18,000 Civics and 33,000 Odysseys from the 2011 model year.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Paul Snider reports that Honda says a plastic case that covers a valve in the fuel pump module could break or crack in the Civic. That, in turn, could lead to a fuel leak in a roll-over crash, and the leaking fuel could lead to a fire.
In the Odyssey, the problem involves a windshield wiper linkage rod. It could bend if the wipers become frozen to the windshield. That could prevent the wipers from operating as they should. Honda says there have been no reports of accidents or injuries.
Both recalls are expected to begin by mid-April.
