Holocaust Memorial Center To Host WWII Memorial Lunch-Fundraising Event
FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - The Holocaust Memorial Center, in conjunction with the Michigan Association of Russian-Speaking Jewry, will be hosting a lunch-fundraising event on Sunday, June 19.
Beginning at 2 pm, at the Holocaust Memorial Center located at 28123 Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills, the event will raise funds for the construction of a WWII Veterans Memorial to be constructed at the center.
Tickets for the event start at $25 and must be purchased by June 16.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with WWII veterans and hear their stories. Soviet partisan and WWII veteran Yakov Sigal and American WWII veteran Albert Zack are the featured speakers who will discuss stories of survival and fighting against the Nazis.
Additionally, attendees can submit the names, wartime photos and memorabilia for the WWII veteran in their family to be displayed at the memorial. Renderings of the proposed memorial also will be on display.
The Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America and Detroit Association of Jewish WWII Veterans from Former USSR are among the other contributing organizations.
